The Champions Trophy created much excitement, especially after India and Pakistan faced each other in the finals. It may have been a bad day for Indian cricket fans, but at the extreme end of all this, there were some people who were found to be cheering for Pakistan. The incident occurred in Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh, wherein a group of people were seen cheering for Pakistan and shouting pro-Pakistan slogans, after Pakistan won the Champions Trophy. The group was shouting pro-Pakistan slogans openly on the road and bursting crackers to celebrate Pakistan’s win over India. Indian cricket fans were very disturbed by this behavior. A complaint has been filed and the people who were shouting pro-Pakistan slogans have been arrested by MP police.
A total of 15 people have been arrested and charged with sedition. Due to their irresponsible behavior, tension had gripped the area. However, the police have taken prompt action to control the situation. First, the accused have been arrested and secondly, security has been tightened in the area. Speaking about the development, Shahpur police station in-charge Sanjay Pathak said, “There was a complaint that these accused celebrated Pakistan’s victory by bursting crackers and raising pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans.”
