The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has cancelled building plans of 17 projects located along the Yamuna Expressway. The decision was taken after it was found that the builders had not complied with the directions provided by YEIDA regarding the building plans between the period 2014 and 2016. The projects that have been cancelled include 11 by Jaypee Group and 6 projects by other leading builders. It may be recalled that land was allotted to Jaypee Group with a concessionaire agreement in lieu of the Yamuna Expressway project between Greater Noida and Agra. Other builders were also allotted land meant to be used for housing projects.
Explaining the decision to cancel the building plans, Arunvir Singh, CEO, YEIDA said that all the builders were allotted land to construct residential units in some areas and commercial ones in other pockets. The builders had submitted their layout plan, which was approved by YEIDA. However, YEIDA’s planning department had raised some objections and had asked the builders to make changes and re-submit the plans for approval. Nonetheless, the builders failed to do so even when adequate time was provided to them. This is why the building plans of 17 projects have been cancelled by YEIDA.
