In a shocking development, police officials have received a complaint from a 21-year old student studying at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) alleging that she has been drugged and gang-raped by two Afghan men at their flat in south Delhi’s Green Park, last week. Based on the complaint, the two accused have been arrested by police officials.
Identified as Twaab Ahmed, 27, and Sulaiman Ahmadi, 31, they have been sent to Tihar jail based on the order issued by a Delhi court. According to Chinmoy Biswal, additional deputy commissioner of police (south), the arrested duo were living in the country’s capital on United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) cards. He added that Twaab has been working as an event manager.
As per the complainant, a second year BA (Honours) student of JNU, she had met Twaab in a pub in Hauz Khas village, where she had gone with her friend. After some formal conversations, they exchanged phone numbers. Twaab invited her to his Green Park house, where, after some casual partying, she was allegedly drugged and gang-raped. After the girl came back and told her friends about the incident, she was taken to Safdarjung Enclave police station, where a complaint was registered. She was later taken to a nearby hospital for medical examination.
