At Delhi Zoo, four monitor lizards died of tremor after being taken out of their fields during hibernation by a staff of Delhi Zoo. As per Warden Riyaz Khan the lizards were dragged out by a zoo ranger on January 28 without any approval and authorities have taken penalising action against that staff worker who did it. Postmortem report stated that lizards died of tremor.
According to the Mr. Khan, the lizards went in to hibernation from November to March and no food or water is given to them during this period.
Now in Delhi zoo there are no more monitor lizards. A detailed report is prepared by the zoo authority about the incident and additional action will be taken after the examination done by Director of the Zoo.
