The Championship of World’s Fastest Game, 6th Asian Women’s Youth Handball Championship has started with a gala ceremony here in IGI Stadium, New Delhi today.
South Korea, Chinese Taipei and Kazakhstan scored win in their league matches on the opening day of the Asian Youth Women Handball Championships..
Hosts India however, began its campaign on the wrong foot, went down fighting to Kazakhstan by 23-33. Both India and Kazakhstan were equally matched in the initial stages of the contest, but as the match progressed India lost opportunities while Kazakhstan made most of the situation to collect full points.
In another league match South Korea send a warning signal to their rivals scoring 14 points win over China. Eventual winners dominated the contest from the word go and raced to nine points lead in the first half. Speedy Korean scored 18 points while China could net only 9. The second half also went the Korean’s way as they didn’t let the rivals gain the upper hand. Korea’s final score was 34 while China netted 20 points.
Chinese Taipei also managed to score 22-17 win over Uzbekistan in its opening league match. Hsu Yu-Hsin was the main architect of team’s win scoring as many as six goals. Yu-Hsin was equally supported by Shis Ping Wang in the attack who contributed four goals to the team’s total.
