Hyderabad, November 14, 2014: HYDERABAD’S FLAGSHIP THEATRE EXTRAVAGANZA – Qadir Ali Baig Theater Foundation brings Globally-anticipated 9th edition of “Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Festival”.
Today the festival arranged to stage a Hindi Play “Rozana” directed by Usha Ganguli.
The play is about a day in the life of a factory worker named Maya, symbolic of every woman. It discovers a working mother startled awake to prepare for another day at the factory, getting her baby ready for the crèche, then forgetting where she placed her door key — all while the husband sleeps — and virtually panicking, before suddenly realizing it’s a Sunday. Ganguli adds topical local touches to the original. Ms Usha Ganguli expertly adjusted her heavy voice to more comic registers, shriller for farce, and sweeter for the brief memories of a romantic holiday. Some routines evoked instant laughter, like her confusing the flour with powder, and her commentary on men’s obsession with football. The play was humorous and insightful. The Play is based on the work of Franca Rame and Dario Fo and adapted skillfully by Usha Ganguli.
On Stage: Usha Ganguli
