AAP asked to pay Rs.97 Crores for splurging on ads



AAP was in utter shock after it was asked to pay Rs.97 Crores for splurging on ads by the Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal. LG found that the party had violated Supreme Court guidelines. The LG has also ordered an inquiry. The party has to reimburse the money within 30 days.The move comes months after a Centre-appointed three-member committee indicted the AAP government for “misusing” exchequer money on advertisements.

Out of Rs.97 crores incurred on advertiesment, Rs.42 crores has already been paid by the ad agencies with remaining Rs.55 crores pending but now, it is the party and not the Government which needs to cough up the whole amount.

Chief Secretary M M Kutty has been directed by the LG to get the entire spending reimbursed from the AAP.

“The Lt Governor has now directed the Chief Secretary to get the amount of Rs 97 crore from Aam Aadmi Party,” a source said.
