It was another bad news for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), as one of its legislators, Ved Prakash, has quit the party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This comes at a time when the crucial municipal elections are to be held in Delhi on April 23. BJP wants to continue its successful run in various elections whereas time seems to be running out for AAP, after its poor show in the recently held assembly elections in Punjab and Goa. The municipal corporation in Delhi is currently controlled by BJP, giving it the power to take crucial decisions relating to health and sanitation.
While announcing his decision to switch over to BJP, Ved Prakash said that he felt suffocated while he was with AAP. He said that AAP has failed to deliver on its promises that it made during the assembly elections. He created even further controversy when he said that around 35 AAP MLAs are not satisfied with the functioning of the party. Sources revealed that it all started when Ved Prakash stopped taking calls from AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal. Later, Ved Prakash surfaced at BJP’s headquarters in Delhi and announced his decision to join BJP.
