Army man Zahoor Ahmad had created a wide controversy after he went missing along with his rifle and ammunitions and now it has been reported that he has joined the militancy in Jammu & Kashmir. The claim that Ahmad has joined militancy has been made by militant organization Hizbul Mujahideen. The information was revealed through an email that was sent by Hizbul spokesman Saleem Hashmi. In the email, it has been mentioned that Ahmad has joined militant ranks. The email further says that Indian intelligence agencies are purposefully trying to bring Al-Qaeda and ISIS like organizations in the Kashmir Valley, in an attempt to tarnish the freedom struggle in Kashmir. The email says that such organizations have no role to play in the Kashmir struggle and it’s just being done as a propaganda.
The email further says that a meeting between Ahmad and Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin was organized, in which, everyone was happy about Ahmad’s decision to join the militant ranks. Hizbul Mujahideen also thanked Ahmad for his decision to quit the army and join the militants. The email also points out to several other officers who had earlier quit the army and joined militancy, many of whom had even died for the freedom struggle in Kashmir. It may be recalled that Ahmad had gone missing in June and he had taken his AK-47 rifle and ammunitions with him. At that time, Army officers had said that adequate steps will be taken to prevent such things from happening again.
