Advani, Joshi, others to face criminal charges in Babri Masjid Demolition case

On CBI’s appeal for the re-establishment of criminal charges against Advani, MM Joshi, Uma Bharti and other leaders two justices bench ordered everyday hearing in Babri Masjid case. Apex Court has set 2 years limit for the trial. The court said that Kalyan Singh is sheltered since he is a governor and charges will be outlined against the leader after he ends as governor.

On 6th December 1992, supporters of Vishwa Hindu Parishad demolished the Mughal-era mosque in Uttar Pradesh which resulted in nastiest communal riots of India. This led death of 3,000 people approximately.

The Supreme Court shifted the trial to Lucknow from Rai Bareli. In May 2001 the case demolished flat when the court released the criminal charges against 13 leaders. CBI again approached the court for the case.
