The group of protesting Tamil Nadu farmers at Jantar Mantar in Delhi are consistently innovating their protest strategy to get the attention of top leaders in the country. In their latest strategy, the farmers took out their protest wearing women’s clothes. It may be recalled that just a couple of days back, some of these farmers had gone naked, seeking compensation for crop failure caused by drought. The farmers said that this time they are protesting wearing women’s clothes to get the attention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The protestors also staged a play wherein one of the farmers acted as PM Modi sitting on a chair and other farmers went up to him to submit their memorandum. The farmers are demanding a complete waiver of their loans, compensation for crop failure, and creation of a Cauvery water management board. The farmers said that it’s a do or die situation for them and they will not leave the Capital until their demands are met. Today was the 32nd day of their protest and it remains to be seen if their voices will be heard.
