The Tamilnadu political circle would be witnessing the possible merger of AIADMK’s two warring factions led by the former Chief Mnister O Paneer Selvam and Chief Minister Eddapadi K Palaniswamy. The factions which have been in dispute with one another since the demise of Jayalalithaa has finally decided to call off the truce and decided to come together.
It is to be noticed that none of the faction has got the rights at the present moment to use the party’s symbol – Two Leaves since there is no clear picture as to who is running the party and the case has been pending in the Election Commission. Once the merger is complete, this should be resolved in a faster way though Jayalalithaa’s nice apart from Sasikala’s faction has also submitted documents claiming the rightful ownership for the party symbol.
After one of the Minister openly admitted that EPS+OPS faction would still be falling short by 2 MLAs for majority which has been pointed by the opposition parties calling for resignation or no confidence motion, the merge took faster pace after TTV Dinakaran claimed he had support of more than 20 MLAs and there are sleeper cells in the opposition camps during his rally in Melur.
After the series of discussions, both the parties have come to an agreement which is beneficial to both the sides including setting up a committee which would have 8 members from EPS and 7 Members from OPS who would take important decisions combined. OPS is expected to get Deputy CM post along with Home Ministry and few other Minister posts for his loyalists Ma Foi K Pandiarajan, P H Pandian amon others.
Tamil Nadu acting Governor Vidya Sagar Rao has come down Mumbai since the merger announcement is expected anytime.
