After intel reports that around 20 to 25 Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists may have entered the country and may be planning terror attacks like 26/11, the security agencies have issued a high alert across airports and railway stations in the country. It is suspected that the terrorists may carry out terror attacks in states bordering Pakistan or metro cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, etc. Popular tourist destinations, malls and hotels have also been asked to beef up their security. Intel reports suggest that the tourists may be planning to strike at popular tourist destinations. The directive to be on high alert has been issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
The intel reports mention that there has been a significant increase in ceasefire violations at the Line of Control (LoC). The total number of infiltration events has also increased in recent times with the melting of snow in the Kashmir valley and the opening of passes. Intelligence agencies suspect that some of the terrorists may have managed to infiltrate the border and enter into India. The threat has increased even more now after the killing of Hizbul commander Sabzar Bhat and the punitive strikes carried out by the Indian Army targeting Pakistani bunkers across the LoC. Intel experts say that the terrorist may be planning to take revenge in view of these actions.
