Akhilesh Yadav is now believed to be the top boss in the Samajwadi Party (SP) as Mulayam Singh Yadav (MSY) has cancelled the party meeting that he had called for the 5th of January. The SP convention on the 1st of January had appointed Akhilesh Yadav as the National President of the SP, had made Naresh Uttam the President of the SP and had expelled Amar Singh from the SP. Netaji, as MSY is called, expelled Ram Gopal Yadav and Kiranmoy Nanda, Party VP from the party. However, it is believed that now Akhilesh is firmly in control of the party.
The fight is now expected to be fought in Delhi at the Election Commission’s (EC) office with both the factions claiming the cycle symbol of the SP. The EC may actually have to freeze that symbol as a fight over the symbol may actually be a long drawn one. After Sunday, it was clear as to who holds the reins in the party.
Many political observers say that the current political drama has been staged by Mulayam Singh to get Akhilesh appointed as his political successor without appearing to be doing it himself. All the actions carried out by Akhilesh and his uncle Ram Gopal Yadav seem to have the tacit approval of the dhartiputra. The next week is said to be crucial for the SP as many members want the fight in the family to end so that they can get back to fighting the BJP in the upcoming UP elections.
