The Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had an all party meeting before presenting the Union Budget. The political parties were against the Government’s plan to table the budget before the assembly elections.
Trinamool Congress and the Shiv Sena did not attend the meeting. PM Modi appealed to all the parties to let Parliament function despite all the differences that political parties had with each other. He said that Parliament was a big Mahapanchayat that has to function in order to help the citizens of the country. By creating chaos in the house, political parties aim to prevent the government from passing any bills that could help the government to get any political advantage in the coming assembly elections.
The opposition parties have asked for a discussion on demonetisation as the government and the RBI have so far refused to share adequate information for the same.
