Once an innovation becomes a hit, there will be several others rushing in to cash in on the market possibilities. The 4G feature phone by Reliance Jio was such an innovation and it was the first time that such a product was launched in the country. And now that it has become a huge hit, with millions of people opting for it, other telecom companies are launching similar products and services. Just a few days back, Airtel had announced the launch of its cheap 4G VoLTE phone in collaboration with Karbonn. And following on the footsteps is BSNL that has today announced the launch of its 4G VoLTE feature phone that has been developed in collaboration with Micromax. Named as Bharat 1, the phone will be available to consumers at just Rs 2,200.
In a joint statement released by BSNL and Micromax, it has been stated that both companies would work to provide affordable 4G VoLTE services to around 500 million feature phone users in the country. The deal will leverage the technology expertise of Micromax and the vast network of BSNL that covers even the most remote parts of the country. Bharat 1 will have 2000 mAh battery, 512MB RAM and 4GB ROM, a 2.4 inch QVGA screen, 2 MP rear camera and VGA selfie camera, 4G VoLTE and Dual SIM connectivity. With BSNL Rs 97 plan, users will get unlimited calls and data with the Bharat 1 phone.
