Allowances Central government employees may not be getting after 1 June: 7th Pay Commission

The 7th Pay Commission has made a variety of recommendations and one of the key changes relate to the various allowances payable to Central government employees. As many as 53 allowances have been recommended to be abolished whereas 36 others are likely to be subsumed into bigger ones. It may be recalled that Central government employees’ representatives are unhappy over the delay in the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission. The recommendations of the Ashok Lavasa panel report will be evaluated by the Empowered Committee of Secretaries (E-CoS) on Thursday and later, it will be sent to the Union cabinet for final approval. Here’s a list of allowances that the Central government employees may not be getting after June 1.

 

  1. Acting Allowance: Abolished as a separate allowance. Eligible employees to be governed by the newly proposed ‘Additional Post Allowance’.
  2. Air Dispatch Pay: Abolished.
  3. Air Steward Allowance: Abolished.
  4. Assisting Cashier Allowance: Abolished.
  5. ASV Allowance: Abolished.
  6. Bad Climate Allowance: Abolished as a separate allowance. Subsumed in Tough Location Allowance-III.
  7. Breakdown Allowance: Abolished.
  8. Camp Allowance: Abolished as a separate allowance. Subsumed in the newly proposed Territorial Army Allowance.
  9. Caretaking Allowance: Abolished as a separate allowance. Eligible employees to be governed by the newly proposed ‘Extra Work Allowance’.
  10. Cash Handling Allowance: Abolished.
  11. Clothing Allowance: Abolished as a separate allowance. Subsumed in the newly proposed Dress Allowance.
  12. Coal Pilot Allowance: Abolished.
  13. Command Allowance: Abolished.
  14. Commando Allowance: Abolished.
  15. Commercial Allowance: Abolished.
  16. Compensation in Lieu of Quarters (CILQ): Abolished as a separate allowance. Eligible employees to be governed by the newly proposed provisions for Housing for PBORs.
  17. Condiment Allowance: Abolished.
  18. Court Allowance: Abolished.
  19. Cycle Allowance: Abolished.
  20. Desk Allowance: Abolished.
  21. Diet Allowance: Abolished.
  22. Dual Charge Allowance: Abolished as a separate allowance. Eligible employees to be governed by the newly proposed ‘Additional Post Allowance’.
  23. Electricity Allowance: Abolished.
  24. Entertainment Allowance for Cabinet Secretary: Abolished.
  25. Entertainment Allowance in Indian Railways: Abolished.
  26. Extra Duty Allowance: Abolished as a separate allowance. Eligible employees to be governed by the newly proposed ‘Extra Work Allowance’.
  27. Family Accommodation Allowance (FAA): Abolished as a separate allowance. Eligible employees to be governed by the newly proposed provisions for Housing for PBORs.
  28. Family Planning Allowance: Abolished.
  29. Fixed Monetary Compensation: Abolished as a separate allowance. Eligible employees to be governed by the newly proposed ‘Additional Post Allowance’.
  30. Flag Station Allowance: Abolished as a separate allowance. Eligible employees to be governed by the newly proposed ‘Extra Work Allowance’.
  31. Flight Charge Certificate Allowance: Abolished as a separate allowance. Eligible employees to be governed by the newly proposed ‘Extra Work Allowance’.
  32. Flying Squad Allowance: Abolished.
  33. Funeral Allowance: Abolished.
  34. Haircutting Allowance: Abolished as a separate allowance. Subsumed in Composite Personal Maintenance Allowance.
  35. Handicapped Allowance: Abolished.
  36. Headquarters Allowance: Abolished.
  37. Higher Proficiency Allowance: Abolished as a separate allowance. Eligible employees to be governed by Language Award or Higher Qualification Incentive for Civilians.
  38. Holiday Compensatory Allowance: Abolished as a separate allowance. Eligible employees to be governed by National Holiday Allowance.
  39. Hutting Allowance: Abolished.
  40. Initial Equipment Allowance: Abolished as a separate allowance. Subsumed in the newly proposed Dress Allowance.
  41. Instructional Allowance: Abolished as a separate allowance. Eligible employees to be governed by Training Allowance.
  42. Investigation Allowance: Abolished.
  43. Judge Advocate General Department Examination Award: Abolished as a separate allowance. Eligible employees to be governed by the newly proposed Higher Qualification Incentive for Defence Personnel.
  44. Kit Maintenance Allowance: Abolished as a separate allowance. Subsumed in the newly proposed Dress Allowance.
  45. Language Reward and Allowance: Abolished.
  46. Launch Campaign Allowance: Abolished.
  47. Library Allowance: Abolished as a separate allowance. Eligible employees to be governed by the newly proposed ‘Extra Work Allowance’.
  48. Metropolitan Allowance: Abolished.
  49. Night Patrolling Allowance: Abolished.
  50. Official Hospitality Grant in Defence forces: Abolished.
  51. Operation Theatre Allowance: Abolished.
  52. Organization Special Pay: Abolished.
  53. Out of Pocket Allowance: Abolished as a separate allowance. Eligible employees to be governed by Daily Allowance on Foreign Travel.
  54. Outfit Allowance: Abolished as a separate allowance. Subsumed in the newly proposed Dress Allowance.
  55. Out-turn Allowance: Abolished.
  56. Overtime Allowance (OTA): Abolished.
  57. Qualification Grant: Abolished as a separate allowance. Eligible employees to be governed by the newly proposed Higher Qualification Incentive for Defence Personnel.
  58. Rajbhasha Allowance: Abolished as a separate allowance. Eligible employees to be governed by the newly proposed ‘Extra Work Allowance’.
  59. Rajdhani Allowance: Abolished.
  60. Rent Free Accommodation: Abolished.
