Six days after Pehlu Khan was allegedly beaten to death by cow vigilantes in Rajasthan’s Alwar district, the police have made a breakthrough in the case by arresting one of the main accused. Speaking on the development, district superintendent of police Rahul Prakash said that one of the main accused Bipin Yadav has been arrested. He also said that Yadav’s friend Deepak is also one of the accused in the case, but he is yet to be arrested. It may be recalled that the police have identified a total of 10 people, as the accused in the case, based on video clippings of the incident.
Meanwhile, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has escalated the matter by sending a notice to the Rajasthan government. The NHRC has sent the notice to the Chief Secretary of Rajasthan, seeking a detailed report on the matter and demanding swift action against the culprits. The NHRC has provided a time frame of 4 weeks to the Rajasthan government to file its report. The NHRC has termed the incident as highly painful and a serious violation of human rights.
