Jeff Bezos led Amazon has opened up a 65,000 sq.ft customer service facility in Coimbatore, Tamilnadu. The move shows the confidence that the company has put it over India which is now becoming it’s major business market after USA. Coimbatore which is also known as the “Manchester of South India” has become the priority for major businesses after Chennai was devastated by floods last year. Apart from lower rental income for commercial space, the availability of workforce(skilled personnel) at an affordable rate makes it more attractive destination compared to others.
Amazon is looking to rent another 50,000 sq.ft over a period of 7 to 8 months. The land has been rented out by India Land which has close to 800,000 sq.ft of space on IT which has given approx 200,000 sq.ft lof and for rent in the past 6 months.
