It was yet another entertaining night for football fans this Sunday at the live screening of Atletico de Madrid vs. Sevilla FC, hosted by LaLiga Santander, the top professional association football division of the Spanish Football League system. The live screening was held at Yes Minister, Essex Farms, New Delhi from 8 PM onwards. Earlier also, in November 2016, LaLiga had hosted the live screening of El Clasico, which was a huge hit among football fans across Delhi and Mumbai, registering a footfall in excess of 20,000. Building on its success, LaLiga served yet another delight for football fans this Sunday, March 19, by hosting the live screening of Atletico de Madrid versus Sevilla FC.
Football fans and guests had something more to look forward to this Sunday, as the screening was attended by LaLiga Legend, Aitor Ocio Carrión. It was a great moment for fans to meet their favorite Spanish defender, who retired after his 18-year senior career, made 173 appearances, and has a Copa del Rey and two UEFA Cup crowns with Sevilla FC among other silverware. The excitement was evident on both sides, as fans interacted with the LaLiga legend and clicked selfies that they shall treasure for a long time to come. Aitor Ocio Carrión was excited too, as he was moved by the immense passion of football fans in the country and their support and patronage of Spanish clubs as well as the League.
Prior to the start of the match, the buzz was that Sevilla FC would score a win, given their glorious winning streak during the current season. However, there was no certainty, as Atletico de Madrid fans were hoping that their team would come up with a surprising turn of events. Atletico de Madrid was the first to score; a stunning goal from AntoineGriezmann, which immediately gave them the upper hand. Sevilla tried to fight back in the second half through a change of formation, but even that did not seem to help them. When the score reached Atletico de Madrid – 3 and Sevilla FC – 0, most Sevilla fans at the live screening seemed to have lost all hopes. However, just five minutes from time, Sevilla had something to cheer, as Joaquin Correa struck a consolation goal, making the final tally reach 3-1.
Atletico de Madrid fans certainly seemed delighted at their 3-1 victory over Sevilla, as there were loud cheers and shouts from the people who attended the live screening. Some of the diehard Sevilla fans seemed dejected, but for the most, it was an exciting night of pure football passion and energy. We hope that LaLiga will continue to host more of such adrenalin-pumping live football action and provide fans the opportunity to meet more of their favorite LaLiga Legends.
