Armed forces delivering oil to blockade hit Manipur

The blockade in manipur has hurt poll bound Manipur badly and it seems that the North Eastern state has almost no fuel left. Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has made a desparate request to the Indian Air Force to transport oil to the poll bound state as Manipur has oil enough only for 2 days. The Narendra Modi led Government of India has agreed to transport 96,000 litres of fuel in the IAF’s largest military transport aircraft, the C 17 Globemaster. The fuel will be transported from Assam’s Borjhar Air Force Station to Imphal.

Three trips have already been made by the plave since Sunday. The fuel crisis was triggered due to the indefinite blockade of the Manipur’s major roads by the United Naga Council (UNC). The blockade has been in place for 84 days. The C 17 may also be used by the IAF to transport other essential commodities that Manipur may need, but there has been no such request that has been made by the State Government so far.

The Rajnath Singh led Union Home Ministry of the BJP led Govenrment of India is mulling whether they should use force to clear the blockade on the national highways to end the blockade.
