Renowned Indian Television journalist Arnab Goswami’s newest venture, The Republic has been backed by a ruling Bhartiya Janata Party Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament from Bengalurur, Karnataka, Rajeev Chandrashekhar. Other key investors include Mr. Goswami, his wife and noted industrialist and philanthropist Mohandas Pai. Mr. Chandrashekhar and Mr. Pai have been regular guests on Arnab’s former prime time show on Times Now, the Newshour @ 9 PM.
Mr. Rajeev Chandrashekhar is a Rajya Sabha MP from Bengaluru, Karnataka is said to have invested Rs 30 crores. The Goswamis are believed to have invested Rs 26 crores. Apart from the investors mentioned here, there are over 14 other investors in the new venture floated by Mr. Goswami – ARG Outlier.
Mr Rajeev Chandrashekhar is a venture capitalist who started Jupiter Capital in 2005, with an intial investment fund of a $100 million. The company currently manages assests worth over $800 million and has investments in Asianet News, Kannada Prabha and Suvarna News 24×7. He also has investments in various defence companies. He is a member of the Parliamentary standing committee on Defence, National Cadet Corps, Sentral Advisory Committee and the Consultative Committee on Defence. He is also the Vice Chairman of the BJP led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Kerala. He has been a Rajya Sabha Member from Karnataka since 2006.
