Arsene Wenger was a happy man. His men gave him a peace of mind by securing his record seventh FA Cup final win. They had won the Premier League earlier.
The match was nothing less than a thriller since the final score read as 2-1 with Chelsea who gave the tough fight till the end was down to 10 men.
Alexis Sanchez gave Arsenal the lead by scoring a goal in just four minutes of the start of the fame which was overruled by referee Anthony Taylor after he had flagged for offside against Aaron Ramsey.
Chelsea’s Diego Costa scored his team’s first and the only goal when the game was set to over with just 1 minutes to spare equalling the scoreboard. Arsenal kept creating chances to score and in the meantime, Chelsea was down to 1 men with Victor Moses being sent off from the field after receiving his second yellow card. The final goal for Arsenal came just before the three minutes for the end of the game with a header from substitute Olivier Giroud’s cross.
Wenger seemed visibly elated who pumped his fists in delight at the final whistle. This was the 13th FA Cup for Arsenal but winning 7th title under the leadership of Wenger. The victory has made him the most successful manager in the history of this competition. He is expected to announce his retirement anytime soon as he has now reached the pinnacle of his career and many expect that he would announce his retirement when he has reached the top.
