Ashwin Ramaswamy

Ashwin is an IIT & IIM graduate with over 20 years of experience. After his initial grounding in the FMCG industry with Johnson & Johnson, he then joined Airtel Broadband and played key roles across geographies. Thereafter, he worked in the retail sector with Jubilant Retail, where he was part of the leadership team and actively engaged with the promoters. He was pulled back into Airtel when Airtel merged their Mobile, Broadband and DTH businesses, to manage the Delhi-NCR circle as CMO. He worked briefly with MTS handling their smartphone business before starting up Mubble Networks with his friends

In Johnson & Johnson, Ashwin was responsible for the rural expansion of J&J. He managed their biggest brand – Johnson’s Baby Powder and was instrumental in launching a rural specific variant. This role laid the foundation for his skills in consumer insights, product launches, distribution and marketing.

In his first stint at Airtel, Ashwin architected the broadband network rollout for Karnataka and Kerala. He also managed operations for 300+ team covering sales, installation, and fault-repair and customer service. In his role as head of marketing for Karnataka & Kerala, he revamped the broadband pricing strategy and was instrumental in the user transition from dial up to DSL. He then moved to head broadband nationally, and was responsible for the all pricing and capex decisions

In Jubilant Retail, he launched over 10 Lakh square feet of retail space in Bangalore in the Mall+Hypermarket format called Total. In this role, he worked closely with the promoter family gaining experience into managing a high paced business growth in an extremely demanding setup, while delivering both topline and bottomline goals.

Ashwin was called back to Airtel during a key transition, when Airtel was merging its mobile, broadband and DTH businesses under one org structure. As CMO of the largest circle of Airtel (Delhi), he pioneered the mobile internet revolution anchoring the user transition from 2G to 3G. A brief stint with MTS handling their Smartphone business convinced him that smartphones would be a massive disrupter of consumer behaviour, and he quit to form Mubble with his friends.

He has over 20 years of experience straddling the domains of Mobile Tech, FMCG, Retail and Telecom. His skillsets include leadership, strategy, consumer insights, data analytics & managing hypergrowth phases of organizations. He is an avid reader and an occasional writer
