“With the banner of Nationalism in our hearts to build up a mighty India, let us march forward on the path of duty. This is no time for rest; this is no occasion for faltering. Let us go onwards and onwards, till we reach the goal.” These are the famous words of the 11th Prime Minister of our country, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji which was his life’s main motto. He was clear in his views of any social or political issues, and had a vision about India as an emerging power. His ambitious National Highway Development Project and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, and his other political and social endeavours have played a key role in where we are standing now as a nation as compared to other countries in the world.
The road was not very easy for him too. The internal emergency imposed from 25th June, 1975 to 21st March, 1977 by the then Prime Minister of our country Smt. Indira Gandhi in which he was arrested, the Lahore summit leading to Kargil War, the Indian Airlines Flight IC814 hijack, the 2001 attack on Parliament, the 2002 Gujarat violence and other problems while Vajpayee Ji were the Prime Minister of our country from the period 1998-2004 had very adverse effects on our country. If any other person would have been in his position, he could have easily broke down. But, he stood there for the country as a man of steel and further continued his endeavours for the benefit of the nation. And as rightly called the Bishma Pitamah of India politics by Dr. Manmohan Singh, he continues to live in our hearts forever. Let us all wish him a good health.
