Agra Oct 27 (IANS) Two persons arrested on the charge of brutally assaulting a Swiss couple were on Friday sent in judicial custody by a local court, while three others, who are juveniles, were sent to a childcare centre, police said.
Quentin Jeremy Clerc, 24, and his female friend Marie Droz, 24, are undergoing treatment in a private nursing home in New Delhi.
The couple were beaten up in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur Sikri on October 22. They had arrived in India on September 30.
The accused were arrested on Thursday, including two young men — Rahul, 19, and Pankaj, 19, both from Fatehpur Sikri.
The remaining three, who are minors, were sent to a childcare centre in Shah Ganj, Additional Director General of Police Ajay Anand told the media on Friday afternoon.
The minors reportedly told police that they were returning after playing cricket when they asked the Swiss couple for a selfie but pelted them with stones when they refused.
Police said its investigations are continuing as the video clipping of the assault has not been found.
