Australia’s Nathan Lyon emerged as the star of the show during Day 1 of the ongoing test match against India. The spinner took 8 wickets, literally taking down the entire batting side of India. With Lyon’s stupendous performance, Australia dominated India throughout Day 1 of the ongoing test match in Bengaluru. Lyon’s 8/50 enabled the Australian side to bowl out India for just 189 runs. The Australians went in to bat next and by the end of the day, they were 40 for no loss, trailing the Indian score by 149 runs.
This is Lyon’s eighth five-wicket haul in tests and his career best overall. He has now also surpassed Bret Lee’s record of the highest wicket-taker for Australia against India in Tests. Lee’s record is 53 wickets from 12 tests against India, whereas Lyon now has 58 wickets to his credit from 12 tests against India.
It was a dismal performance by the Indian batting side, with the last five wickets falling in a span of just 15 runs. All the last five Indian batsmen were bowled out at single digit scores. The only savior was KL Rahul who scored 90 runs.
