After being humiliated in the first test against the Bangladesh, it was a do or die situation for Australia in the second test. After restricting Bangladesh for 305 in the first innings, the Aussies were all out for 377. While Mustafizur claimed 4 wickets, Mehedi claimed 3 for Bangladesh.
Having conceded 72 runs lead, Bangladesh began their second innings. They were literally on a shock because even before the score could reach 50, they lost 5 wickets. Mushfiqur, Rahman and Haque who came in the end did score some runs which eventually lead to Bangladesh going past 150. Mushfiqur was the top scorer with 31, Haque with 29 and Rahman with 24. For Australia, Lyon claimed 6/60 and with both the innings put together, he had an impressive 13/154. Australia which began their second innings reached the mark in 15.3 overs with a loss of 7 wickets thereby winning the match by 7 wickets.
In the other match, West Indies was bundled out for 123 in in 57.3 overs against England. The WI which is being really struggling off late with spat of war between Lara and Michael Holding lost their crucial wickets at regular juncture which saw them going past 100 with great difficulty. Stokes did the maximum damage for England by claiming 6 wickets for 22.
However all was not well for England as well. They lost the openers Cook and Stoneman for 10 and 1 respectively. Westley and Root who came later did not forge a partnership since they both were dismissed as well for 8 and 1. By the time, the score reached 24, they lost 4 wickets. Malan and Stokes who came later ensured that the wickets did not fall any further till the end of the day. England was at 4/46 at the closure of Day 1.
