Baahubali 2 which was the most awaited movie of the year has got the highest opening on its first day in India. The movie which also saw a record collection when its first part was released couple of years back was released across the globe on Friday,28 2017.
After few hiccups in Karnataka where the Kannada associations threatened to stall its release and also the early morning releases got cancelled in Tamilnadu due to the settlement issue, the movie was released and was already booked for the entire weekend.
Some 69 shows were planned in 5 multiplexes in Chennai alone. Karnataka had its premiere show on Thursday itself and the movie was screened in over 400 screens and Andhra was no exception since the actual movie was shot in Telugu. Even Kerala has not failed to live up to the expectations.
The movie shattered the box-office records by netting Rs.122.03 crores on day 1 as per boxofficeindia.com with an approx Rs.41 crores in Hindi and Rs.81 crores in Tamil+Telugu+Kannada and Malayalam combined. The movie was released during a non-festival day which is to be noted here.
The movie has dethroned Salman Khan’s “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo”, “Sultan”, SRK’s “Happy New Year” and Aamir Khan’s “Dhoom 3”. The movie is booked until May 1 – Monday as it is a Long weekend for many employees and is doing a good business in overseas market as well, especially in USA.
