The one thing all Baahubali fans wanted to know – Why did the loyal Katappa kill Baahubali? Yes, the answer has finally been revealed with Baahubali 2 being released on 9,000 screens globally, which is a new record. This part is a sequel, but initially the movie appears to be a prequel, as it traces the story of Baahubali’s father, who was the rightful heir to the throne of Mahishmati kingdom. Prabhas is seen in a dual role in this movie, playing both the role of the father and son.

The story goes back a generation earlier, in time when Sivagami (Ramya Krishnan) is the reigning queen of Mahishmati. She has a son Bhalla Deva (Rana Daggubati), but when it comes to choosing the next heir for the throne, she chooses Bhalla’s cousin Amarendra Baahubali (Prabhas). This infuriates Bhalla and he decides to overthrow Baahubali. The initial part of the movie also traces the love story of Amarendra and Devasena (Anushka Shetty), the mother of Mahendra Baahubali (Prabhas).

Just like its predecessor, Baahubali 2 is a simple story about good conquering evil. More than anything else, the movie is designed to be a visual treat. It would be a good idea to just sit back and enjoy the action. The action sequences are even better in this movie, as compared to its predecessor. Action choreographer Peter Hein deserves credit for the spectacular action sequences. The heroism factor has also been scaled up several notches, wherein Baahubali can be seen having much greater power and strength. Prabhas has delivered a good performance in both his roles of a father and son. He has been terrific not just in action sequences, but in terms of emotional aspects as well.

There’s plenty of gravity-defying CGI and VFX that will keep you glued to your seat and keep the adrenalin pumping. The movie also has plenty of emotional content to keep you engaged. For action fans, Baahubali 2 is certainly a must watch.
