Babri case: Advani, MM Joshi, Bharti summoned to CBI court
A special Central Bureau of Investigation court hearing the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition cases has asked Bharatiya Janata Party leaders L K Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharti to appear before it on Friday.
This comes at the time when L K Advani is in the probable list of making it to the Presidential Candidate whose elections are due this year and BJP is trying hard to ensure that the candidate gets elected with its backing.
Supreme Court on April 19 has directed Advani, Bharti and Joshi to face trial on conspiracy charges. It also directed the special court to speed up the long impending case and to get away with it within two years and had also transferred the case from Raebareli to Lucknow.
The court is likely to frame additional charges against Advani and other accused. This is due to the Supreme Court ordering the restoring of the serious criminal conspiracy offence against the leaders which had criticised that the demolition of the medieval era monument as a crime.
