A court in Angamaly has refused the bail petition for popular Malayalam actor Dileep who has been arrested for alleged sexual assault case over Actor Bhavna by conspiring with Pulsar Suni and few others and remanded him into custody until 25th July.
The bail plea was opposed by prosecution who pleaded to the magistrate that awarding a bail would lead to tampering the evidence since the accused is an influential person. It would also adversely affect the ongoing probe into the conspiracy behind the sensational case, the prosecution said.
Noting the campaign being launched on social media hailing the actor, Special prosecutor A Sureshan added that these campaigns will set a wrong example if the release was secured. He also opined that since the accused has spoken to the media against the actress despite of being charged under various sections of Indian Penal Code, including Section 120(B) would prove to be a direct threat to the victim.
The actor has been sent to a sub-jail in Aluva post the hearing. In the meanwhile, the prosecution has also brought actor’s Manager and a Lawyer under the suspicion. A case diary was submitted in the court in a sealed cover to strengthen its argument.
Dileep’s counsel argued that he has been arrested by the mere statement of Pulsar Suni who is an habitual offender and that there was no evidence in the case against the actor and he was just framed.
