BCI suggests penalties on advocates if go on strike, Delhi advocates opposes

Today the judicial work in Delhi got slow down as the lawyers in capital are on strike to protest against BCI suggestion.

As per the Bar Council of India (BCI) suggestion to Law Commission favors that advocates should not go on strike and they should be banned from having strikes. If advocates do not go by it then they should be imposed with fines as a result.


Coordination Committee of District Court Bar Associations said that the strike is being perceived in the all six district courts complexes which are Patiala House, Tis Hazari, Rohini, Karkardooma, Saket and Dwarka. As per committee strike is not in contradiction of Bar Council of India however it is to save the dignity of legal profession.
