BeatO partners with Akshaya Patra Foundation to offer mid-day meals to 23,000 children

Every purchase on the BeatO website will be directed towards sponsoring one meal for a child

Delhi, 12th November, 2018: BeatO, short for Beating the ring ‘O’ of Diabetes) (, India’s first and only full-stack digital solution for managing diabetes, has joined hands with the Akshaya Patra Foundation to donate mid-day meals to about 23,000 children in Delhi. Commemorating Children’s Day, BeatO is gifting healthy meals to children who may not be able to afford it otherwise. As part of the campaign, one meal per child will be sponsoredfor every purchase made on the BeatO website between 9th and 14th November 2018.

To sponsor a meal, one can buy products from BeatO’s vision is to empower people to be in control of their health and push them towards better lifestyle choices. However, for many people, even one meal a day is a distant dream – the plight of children is even worse. This initiative thus stems from the fact that a healthy, wholesome meal is everyone’s right.

Speaking about this, Mr Gautam Chopra, CEO and Founder, BeatO, said, “We are happy to be associated with the Akshaya Patra Foundation in this initiative. Our aim is to inculcate the importance of a healthy diet among children, which is one of the ways to prevent several lifestyle diseases such as diabetes. As an example, the chances of acquiring Type 2 diabetes can be reduced just through a 5% reduction in body weight in children. This combined with some regular physical activity every day can cut the risk of Type 2 diabetes by at least 50%.[1]Our campaign is an effort towards underlining this fact and ensuring that at least one child is able to get a healthy meal once a day through the purchase customers make on our website.”

BeatO had previously organized a run to contribute towards rehabilitation efforts during the Chennai floods. Under this campaign, a certain amount of money was donated for every kilometre run by the participants. Apart from this, the company also regularly organizes free diabetes camps in various parts of Delhi/NCR.
