According to a recent eScan report, a new Mobile malware has been discovered which extorts money from users who have downloaded it. However, this malicious app has already been removed from Google Play at the time of filing this report.
How does this Android Malware work?
Once the app is installed, it secretly takes selfies using victim’s frontal camera without his/ her knowledge. Once the malicious app completes the process of taking photos, sensitive information such as victim’s mobile number and operating system and then they are transferred to the remote servers belonging to the developers of this app. If the response is successful, victim’s phone gets locked and displays a demand for ransom amount of $500 to be paid by PayPal.
