The Odisha State Government has decided to block all the social media platforms for next 48 hours in Bhadrak to control the situation in the violence hit town.
The reports of abusive remarks against Hindu deities had triggered the violence. Security men today staged a flag march in curfew-bound Bhadrak town.
Police officials claimed that the curfew led to closure of the town yesterday and would continue till tomorrow.
Additional forces, including armed police, were deployed as part of an effort to restore peace in the strife-torn town which witnessed violence on Thursday and Friday.
Senior officials, including Home Secretary Asit Tripathy and Director-General of Police K B Singh, have been camping in Bhadrak to monitor and supervise the peace operation.
The DGP said the situation was now under control after some violent incidents took place in the town yesterday. The police detained around 30 people in connection with the violence incidents.
Violence started in Bhadrak town on Thursday after a group staged protest and demanded immediate arrest of people involved in posting alleged offensive remarks against Hindu deities on social media.
