The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today launched its poll campaign in Gujarat, ahead of the assembly elections in the state. The poll campaign has been named ‘Gujarat Gaurav Yatra’ and it seeks to highlight the various achievements of the BJP government in the state for the last 20 years. The campaign was launched by BJP national president Amit Shah from Karamsad, which is the native place of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Along with Shah, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel also paid tribute to the great leader. BJP’s poll campaign began after Rahul Gandhi had recently campaigned in the state. Rahul Gandhi had talked ill about the current government in Gujarat and had said that the Gujarat Model has failed. Rahul Gandhi had also visited temples in Gujarat to garner Hindu votes, even though he talks about secularism.
Amit Shah rubbished allegations made by Rahul Gandhi and said that the Gujarat Model has been a tremendous success. Shah said that it is the Congress party that is creating obstacles in the development of the state. During the poll campaign, the first phase will cover central Gujarat. The assembly elections in Gujarat will be conducted in December, so there’s just around 2 months left to complete the campaigning. “When Narendra Modi was the chief minister, he created a Gujarat development model which has today become a model for the entire country. This model is Gujarat’s pride,” Shah said. Shah also said that the Congress did nothing for the state during its 30 year rule.
