A BJP leader and six others have been arrested with unaccounted cash worth Rs 33 lakh and illicit arms and ammunition in West Bengal.The arrest comes barely a week after police arrested a youth wing leader of the BJP in Tamil Nadu and seized Rs 20.5 lakh in cash, including wads of new Rs 2,000 notes.The arrested has been identified as Manish Sharma and one Rajesh Jha. Sharma has contested assembly elections from Raniganj constituency on BJP ticket. Police said that they have recovered Rs31 lakh in new currency in Rs2000 denomination. “Seven firearms have been seized from their possession,” said a police personnel part of the raiding team.The police said that they have been looking for Rajesh Jha and his two aides Partha Chatterjee and Lokesh Singh in connection to murder case.A police personnel part of the raiding team but not authorised to talk to the media said that they had inputs that Jha had exchanged their old currencies with new and were on way to procure news firearms.“We have come to know that they had exchanged their old currencies with the new and were procuring firearms in the city,” said an STF sleuth. Jha, who was active in the coal mafia in Raniganj and Asansol for years and had earned a lot of black money.
