Powered by a Modi super-wave, the BJP has registered a massive victory in the Assembly Elections in Uttar Pradesh. The party has won a staggering 324 seats in the 403-member assembly in Uttar Pradesh. The number of seats required to form the government is 202, whereas the BJP has won 324 seats, something that indicates the massive support that people of Uttar Pradesh have given to the party, especially PM Modi. It may be recalled that PM Modi had extensively toured the State prior to the assembly elections and had held many rallies and roadshows.
The overall tally in Uttar Pradesh is as follows:
- BJP – 324
- SP+Cong – 57
- BSP – 19
- Others – 3
Earlier, it was being thought that the SP-Cong alliance will pose a major challenge to BJP in Uttar Pradesh, but results speak for themselves. Both Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav had jointly campaigned during the elections and attracted massive crowds, but the votes were ultimately cast to BJP, it appears.
PM Modi thanked voters and party workers for their support and expressed his gratefulness by saying, “Gratitude to the people of India for the continued faith, support and affection for the BJP. This is very humbling & overwhelming.”
