BJP has suspended its MLC Lal Babu Prasad in Bihar, for his alleged involvement in a sexual harassment case. It is alleged that Prasad had sexually harassed a fellow woman MLC inside the Bihar Legislative Assembly on Wednesday. BJP has also removed Prasad from the post of BJP vice-president in the state. The victim MLC Nutan Singh is a member of Lok Janshakti Party and wife of Niraj Kumar Singh who is a BJP MLA. When Niraj came to know about the incident, he thrashed Prasad on the premises of the Legislative Assembly.
BJP state president Nityananda Rai has confirmed the incident, but he said that no written complaint has been filed. However, the incident was known to many legislators who were present in the assembly, he said. It is alleged that Prasad patted the woman MLC, which prompted Niraj to thrash Prasad. When questioned, Niraj said that it was a minor issue that has now been resolved. He requested everyone not to create unnecessary hype over the incident, as other parties may seek to derive political mileage from the incident.
