The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) continues to suffer in the politically sensitive Kannur district in Kerala. In a horrifying crime, a BJP worker named Santosh was stabbed to death. The attack on the 30 year old party worker took place when he was alone in his house, which is located at Andaloor in Dharmadam. Santosh was taken to a hospital, but due to his extensive stab wounds, he could not survive the ordeal and was declared dead on arrival.
After the incident, the situation in the area has become quite tense. Shops have downed shutters and vehicles have stopped plying on roads in Kannur, fearing violence by agitating members. BJP has called for a bandh in Kannur to protest the attack on Santosh, who was BJP booth president of Andaloor and had contested in local body elections held last year.
Earlier also, many BJP party workers have been attacked and killed, apparently due to political rivalry. Not only BJP, other parties too have been facing such violence for a long time in Kerala.
In another similar incident in the district, a bomb was thrown at the RSS Karyalaya at Thaliparamba this morning. Police officials claim that it was a country-made bomb that did not have the potential to cause great damage. They also reported that no one was injured in the bomb attack.
