BJP’s Laxmikant Parsekar loses in Goa Election

Bharatiya Janata Party is ruling in Goa and its chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar saw defeat in Mandrem constituency of North Goa, by 3,500 votes to Congress candidate Dayanand Sopte.


In 2012 elections BJP won 21 seats while Congress 9, as per latest trend 8 are in BJP’s favor while Congress is heading with 11, the Goa assembly has 40 seats total.

BJP’s Manohar Parrikar was the face in Goa who was campaigning for BJP in Goa.

Parsekar replaced Manohar Parrikar in 2014 when he became defence minister in Centre.

BJP was criticized under Parsekar’s leadership to keep hold on unlawful miners. Also Goa witnessed upsurge in drug trafficking.
