In many incidents, we have come across the news, in which patient or patient’s family or relatives attacked doctors because of their anger. Now to save doctors, it is decided that AIIMS doctors will be given training for self- defence.
Under the new initiative, the training will be starting from 15th May. Black belt champions in martial arts will give training to the AIIMS doctors.
President of AIIMS Resident Doctors’ Association said that management had allowed having everyday training classes of martial arts in the hospital. There will be two black belt winners who will teach self-defence abilities to interested aspirants every day in two shifts between 6-7pm and 7-8 pm in the hospital. He also said that Anticipation is better than medicine.
Head the federation of RDA’s of all Delhi hospitals told that self-defence abilities were required by every doctor.
As per the surveys, there is a noteworthy increase in events of ferocity against doctors. In public hospitals, one out of every two doctors has faced the violence.
A study conducted on 169 junior and senior doctors at MAMC had shown that 75 percent doctor faced abusive language, 51 percent saw the threat and 12 percent were physically beaten.
