The first set was lost by the Bopanna pair when their opponent claimed it by 6-2 making it look easy for thm to claim the title but things turned upside down when they lost the second set for the same core which is 2-6 which gave lot of hopes for the Bopanna/Dabrowski.

The final set was a toughly contested match with each of them scoring one point over the other and finally Bopanna/Dabrowski pair got the better over their opponents by winning it by 12-10. This made the pair richer by 140,000 Euros. The earlier best by Bopanna in a Slam was being a runner-up in the U.S Open 2010 when he lost to the World No.1 Bryan brothers. He then had a partner Aisam Ul Haq Qureshi of Pakistan.

He was also a runner-up in few other tournaments earlier but 2017 seems to have given him a better start with couple of titles already namely ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Monte Carlo and Chennai Open. With career best ranking on 3 in July 2013, Bopanna is presently ranked at No.22 and with this title, the ranking is expected to get better.
