Family members of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose are seeking answers to the sudden disappearance of the leader in 1945. While some of the files related to Netaji were declassified last year, the mystery surrounding his disappearance in 1945 still remains. It may be recalled that Netaji’s family has been trying to get closure since several years, but still none of the governments have been able to unravel the mystery of Netaji’s disappearance in 1945. Netaji’s family has also written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in which, the family has expressed its disappointment on how the matter has been handled since several years. Netaji’s family has asked for a time bound probe to be conducted in the matter by a Special Investigative Team (SIT).
An excerpt from the letter reads, “The people of India were hopeful that the disappearance of the ‘Liberator of India’, on August 18, 1945, would be unraveled. However, certain effective measures need to be taken by the central government to disclose the truth about the disappearance. On behalf of the majority of the Bose Family, we request some immediate action to be taken by the central government to end the Netaji mystery.”
To put pressure on the government, Netaji’s family has planned to hold protest rallies. One of these rallies will be held on May 18 in Kolkata, to be followed by another one in Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, later this month.
