In a shocking incident that raises questions about the security of women in India, a BPO employee was allegedly gang raped in a moving car. According to the 24-year old victim, she was kidnapped when she was at the Golf Course metro station in Noida. She was waiting for a cab outside the station when a Scorpio car stopped by her side. The men inside the car pretended to ask her for directions to a certain place, but as she started talking, the men quickly grabbed her and pulled her inside and drove away. Then the men raped her all while the car was moving. After the rape, the men dumped the victim near the Akshardham temple in Delhi. The victim is a resident of Noida Sector 36.
After she was dumped near Akshardham temple, she called police on the helpline number 100. A police team arrived on the spot and took her to Sector 39 police station in Noida. Avnish Dixit, SHO Sector 39 police station said that the police have registered a case of gang rape and criminal intimidation under Sections 376D and 506 of Indian Penal Code. The charges are as per the complaint filed by the victim. However, one peculiar thing was that the woman refused to undergo medical examination. The victim also refused to submit her mobile phone, saying that her privacy may be eroded. The police are currently investigating the case and working to find and arrest the culprits.
