BUILD BACK BETTER FOR HUMANITY WITH SEEDS

BY MAKING DONATIONS ON GOOGLE PAY APP NOW

New Delhi, September 19, 2019: SEEDS (Sustainable Environment and Ecological Development Society), a not-for-profit organisation that empowers communities through practical solutions in disaster readiness, response and rehabilitation, has joined hands with Google Pay, the digital wallet platform and online payment system developed by Google, to help users donate with just a few taps on the app. The collaboration was announced by Google in an event titled ‘Future of Fintech @Google’ in New Delhi, today. Through this platform, SEEDS aims to make donations an easier and convenient process, which can further facilitate SEEDS’ humanitarian work towards building disaster-resilient communities and restoring lives, homes and schools with dignity.

Announcing the collaboration, Ambarish Kenghe, Director Product Management, Google Pay said, “Google Pay recorded donations by Indian users to brave soldiers of CRPF amounting to INR 34 Crore recently, to help the victims and their families. Encouraged by this response we are making donations a permanent feature on Google Pay where you can find and donate to a range of NGOs. We have eight state government organisations and three NGOs live today on our platform and will have many more in the coming months. This will enable users to donate in the causes they believe in”, he further added.

Dr Manu Gupta, Co-Founder, SEEDS said, “We are honoured that Google has extended its support to SEEDS for its humanitarian work. We are gratified to see SEEDS among one of the NGOs featured on the app for donations and look forward to receiving greater support from across the nation. SEEDS has been instrumental in bringing lives to normalcy post disasters and building resilience in community members across country since last 25 years of its journey. Our commitment towards humanity has always remained undeterred. We are certain that such an association will enable us to reach out to more people and help them build back better.”

Users can donate by logging in the app and clicking on the SEEDS logo, which will direct them to a payment gateway, where the transaction can be completed via UPI, credit card, debit card or net banking. All donations made by the Indian citizens will be eligible for 50% tax exemption under 80G section of the Income Tax Act.
