Somali capital Mogadishu was rocked by a bomb blast. Initial reports claim at least 10 people have been killed by a car bomb attack.
A column of white smoke was seen above the capital and some houses were rattled by the blast. As per the eye witness claims, it was a huge explosion that caused number of causalities and injured several people. The explosion destroyed the building of Wadajir District headquarters. More than 10 cars were destroyed in the explosion.”
The suicide attack is the second incident less than a week after al-Shabab gunmen carried out an overnight siege on a popular restaurant in the Somali capital, killing at least 31 people.
The groups al-Qaida-linked al-Shabab extremist have claimed responsibility for the attack via its Shahada News Agency. The primary aim of the group is to force out African Union peacekeepers, topple the Western-backed government and impose its strict version of Islam.
The national and African Union multinational forces managed to force out Al-Shabab out of the capital and other major urban areas but it continues to carry out deadly bombings and attacks in Mogadishu and elsewhere.
