The Chandigarh Police said yesterday evening that it retrieved CCTV footage that supported a woman’s charge who alleged that Haryana BJP chief’s son and his friend followed her car in a midnight chase. Initially, when the news became a sensation with opposition parties calling of for the resignation of the leader but got the backing from the party which said that the leader will not resign.
Initially, the police were clueless after they said that the CCTVs along the route were not working properly despite that these covered five locations in Sector 26 which has now been retrieved successfully. The footage clearly shows that the victims were followed by a white SUV. This has became a major evidence since it would stand as a testimony to prove the charges refuted against BJP leader Subhash Barala’s son Vikas and his friend Ashish Kumar.
Senior Superintendent of Police Eish Singhal said they were investigating the matter with an ‘open mind’ and were taking legal opinion on several issues pertaining to the case. “Chandigarh police is a professional investigating agency. We are conducting a fair investigations. There is no pressure on us of any kind,” the police officer said denying that he or his team are under any political pressure.
“We are taking legal opinion in several things pertaining to the case. If legal opinion suggests, then we will certainly add the relevant section,” Singhal said who added further saying “There are many things on which we are seeking legal opinion and let these be completed. Don’t turn this case into a media trial.”
The incident took place when the victim was driving home on August 4 at around 12.30am.
