After a Delhi court had ordered the de-sealing of the suite where Sunanda Pushkar was killed, the hotel management has informed the court today that a central forensic team will be visiting the suite to collect further evidence. It may be recalled that Sunanda Pushkar was wife of senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor and she was killed under mysterious circumstances. The mystery behind her death has not yet been revealed and investigations are still being conducted. Earlier, the Delhi court had asked the police to de-deal the suite where Sunanda was killed. The hotel had told the court that it was suffering major losses due to the closed suite. The hotel had said the room had started to rot since it has been sealed for several months now. Other rooms and areas nearby the sealed room are also getting affected due to various bugs that have developed in the sealed room. Based on these factors, the court had ordered the police to de-seal the room.
However, now, a team of central forensic department CFSL will be visiting the suite to collect more evidence on September 1. This means that there will be further delays in de-sealing the suite, the hotel told the court today. The suite has been sealed since the day Sunanda was murdered on the night of January 17, 2014. The hotel said that the suite costs around Rs 61,000 per night, so the cumulative loss is well over Rs 50 lakh. However, the court has provided the police one more chance to inspect the suite and collect evidence.
